top five ladies trends to pack in your suitcase

Your Ibiza trip is booked! You’ve been shopping all year round, planning your outfits for each day and night and are now faced with the terrifying task of fitting those ten pairs of shoes in to one tightly-packed suitcase. Well, to make the whole packing experience a less stressful task, Addicted has compiled an Ibiza Style Guide for 2011. Make sure you follow these five trends, keeping your travelling light and your holiday unforgettable

5. THE MAXI
Keep everything floor-skimming, bold-printed and flowing. A maxi dress is a lightweight and versatile item which can be worn again and again, without anyone even noticing. For the day, keep the shoes flat, the sunglasses over-sized and add a big, floppy hat. Transform the dress at night, by adding sky-scraper wedges, statement jewellery and cinch in at the waist with a belt.

4. FRINGING
For this year, make sure at least one item you’re taking to Ibiza has fringing. From bags to miniskirts, jewellery to t-shirts, this embellishment is a huge trend this summer. To bring out the rock chick in you, simply add a fringed waistcoat to any outfit. Team a pair of fringed sandals with the classic little black dress to nail that well-known Ibiza hippy look.

3. THE HAT
No holiday outfit is complete without a hat. There are so many different shapes and sizes to choose from and each one offers a different look. Bring back the 70s with a big floppy hat or add a trilby for an indie vibe. From preppy to elegant styles, team with over-sized sunnies or wayfarers and show off the fashionista within.

2. ELECTRIC POP
Think 80s, think bright, think Ibiza! From nails to lips, platforms to belts - make sure the colour is electric. Yellow nails are the hottest trend this season and in the Ibiza sunshine, they’ll look gorgeous. Contrast a nude coloured dress by adding an orange, red or blue skinny belt. If you’re keeping the colours neutral on top, keep the shoes vivid, colourful and in your face.

Ibiza is a glamourous island, full of fashionable people and what goes well with glamour? Glitter! Anything shiny or metallic will look fabulous wherever you are on the island. Shimmer in front of the sunset with a sequined cover-up or sparkle in Space in glitter hot pants. The glitz doesn’t stop at fashion - make sure your make-up matches, with lots of gold and silver tones. The more glitz and glamour, the better - you’re in Ibiza!

eddie halliwell talks to addicted about the evolution of cream PLUS win free guestlist for this thursday

Seventeen years is a long time - just think about how much has changed since 1994. We used to read our Ibiza news on paper, we had to navigate the island without the aid of Google Maps and we listened to our music on Discmans. Cream, Ibiza's longest running UK club night, has survived those seventeen years and is back in Ibiza for another season jam-packed with big names. Eddie Halliwell is on the bill this Thursday, so Addicted asked him a few questions about how Cream has evolved over the years and what he is excited about this summer.

Addicted: How do you think the party has changed over the years?

Eddie: Cream at Amnesia has always been consistently good. The music policy has broadened over the last few years, which is great, as it originally used to be mainly trance. I play everything from techno, house through to trance, so the changes suit my style of DJ'ing perfectly.

Addicted: You’ve been a Cream Ibiza resident for some time now, how do you approach each year to make sure it’s different from the previous year?

Eddie: 
The most important thing as a DJ is the connection with the audience and giving them what they want, and when it comes to Ibiza, most people are there to have the party of their life – so that’s what I try to give them with my performances. I keep the energy and interactivity high.

Addicted: This year, you are performing an "ED-IT show" on the Terrace at Amnesia. What does that mean?

Eddie: 
ED-IT is a different concept to my usual performances, combining interactive visuals and special effects, with me editing and remixing live on stage. It’s more of a stage show and I can’t wait for it to go off on the terrace!

Addicted: How important do you feel production and visual effects are these days?

Eddie: Very important – people want more than just a DJ playing records nowadays, they want to see a show!

Addicted: As we've been talking about how Cream has evolved over the past 17 years, would you ever go retro and do a vinyl set as a one off? 

Eddie: I use Vinyl for scratching sometimes – you have to move with the times and embrace change, and although I wouldn’t be against doing a vinyl set again, I prefer to be as creative as possible in my sets, which new technology enables DJ’s to do.

snoop dogg hits ibiza... but what's that he is bringing with him?

After weeks of hype and anticipation, MTV's first ever weekly event in Ibiza opened on Friday July 1st. Headlining the first night of 'I want my MTV Ibiza' was Snoop Dogg, an innovative choice of artist on an island that has increasingly moved away from big-name DJs and towards smaller underground labels.

The choice of Snoop Dogg sets the tone of the rest of the season of 'I want my MTV Ibiza'. This event is not following the format of every club night in Ibiza - by shaking up the house music norms of the island, the success of MTV's foray into the island is definitely one to watch. With over 8,000 in attendance at the opening night, it is certainly going down well with the crowds so far.

With any big name, you get big requests, and Addicted got a sneak peek at Snoop Dogg's rider. His requests included a private jet, an entourage of 30, 3 XBox systems to be placed in his hotel room and a stack of ProTennis games. Obviously someone has been watching Wimbeldon.

Kelis is in town this coming Friday for the same gig. Can her rider get even more pimp? We'll soon find out...
